The Backcountry is the snowshoe of choice for mountaineering, backpacking, hiking, and general use over uncertain terrain. At only 9” wide and 30" long, the Backcountry provides all the floatation most people will require to easily handle most snow conditions. And at less than 3 lbs. per pair, the Backcountry weighs less than the 22" and 25" models of many other ordinary aluminum frame snowshoes. The Backcountry may be ordered with the traditional Northern Lites TruTrak binding system or the new Northern Lites Speed Binding when you need the ultimate convenience for getting your snowshoes on and off quickly.
9"x30" and 46 oz/pair (Tru-Trak) or 45 oz/pair (Speed)

Northern Italy mountains. Til now I tested the Northern Lites snowshoes only once on a narrow path with not abundant snow and some rocks so I cannot give a complete opinion. For sure they are the lighter on the market, (1200gr the pair) Easy to wear and very easy to walk with. More stable than I was expecting considering that they do not have the classic binding that we have here in Europe. I used them in a quite rude way dont caring a lot to pass on some rock and the aluminium present only a micro sign in the paint. The internals seem to be robust, and I will see with the time. The perfect gear for my journeys for their weight, considering that I wear them sometimes after one or two ours of walk before encountering sknow. ALDO MAGGI on Dec 15th 2017
While completing the first winter thru-hike of the Ice Age Trail I relied on the Northern Lites Backcountry Snowshoes. The bindings are simple and easy to use with gloved hands and quick transition times between snowshoes and regular shoes were easily attainable. When crushing out miles in the snow, the simple binding provides a natural, solid, and feather light feeling and the metal claws underneath grab at the terrain. Whether carried on a backpack or worn, they tend to go unnoticed. Mike Summers on Nov 21st 2017
These snowshoes work very well. They don't look fancy but they are light, bindings work much better then all the fancy bindings other brands have, and they grip well for general snowshoeing. K.T. on Feb 23rd 2017
