The Tundra is Northern Lites' super-floater for people carrying larger, heavier loads in the deepest snows. While these are big snowshoes, they are designed to provide a more natural stride with a width of only 9 1/2". At 32" long, with almost 260in2 of deck surface area, the Tundra provides all the flotation most people will require in any snow conditions. The incredibly light weight of all Northern Lites snowshoes is most notable in this size. At 3 lbs. per pair, the Tundra weighs less than most 22" and 25" models of ordinary aluminum frame snowshoes. If you are shopping for an oversized snowshoe, the Tundra means huge weight savings. The average snowshoer takes more than 3,200 strides per mile. At a typical weight savings of more than 10 oz. per shoe, that means you're saving more than 2,000 lbs. per mile compared to the typical comparable snowshoe. Of course, what that really means is that there isn't a comparable snowshoe! The Tundra may be ordered with the traditional Northern Lites TruTrak binding system or the new Northern Lites Speed Binding when you need the ultimate convenience for getting your snowshoes on and off quickly.

I did initially wonder when I received the package, if there was anything in it, as the box was so light! When I opened the package, my intitial impression was how well constructed these snowshoes are. It’s not very often you get something that’s both lightweight and solid in construction. The Tundra snowshoes ooze reliability and the lightness is something my legs will be thankful for this winter. I’ve used other snowshoes in the past, but these on first impression, exceed my expectations. Not only that, but the service, care and the attention to detail I received from Jim was, I have to say, one of the best services I’ve recieved from a supplier. I certainly had no qualms ordering from the UK and received the snowshoes in just over a week from ordering. Wholeheartedly recommend Northernlites Snowshoes, wherever you maybe in the World. I am 72 years old and have been snowshoeing 3-4 miles daily in the winter on our ranch in Central Montana for at least 15 years. I have always used a pair of aluminum frame snowshoes made by a different manufacturer. Our terrain is hilly pastureland with deep drifting snow very common. I purchased a pair of tundra snowshoes this past summer mainly because of the lighter weight. I have to say that they are superb! They are much easier to walk in, very lightweight, there is no tendency for any toe-in and they seem very sturdy and well made. On my first day of using them it was -38 degrees F., and I found them very easy to put on. They are excellent and comfortable even when breaking trail. Hopefully, with the lighter weight I can continue snowshoeing for another 15 years. I would highly recommend them. Central Montana Rancher on Dec 18th 2016
