How Light are Lites?

It's hard to understand how ultralight Northern Lites truly are until you hold them in your hand. To help, we compiled some of the most popular premium 25 inch snowshoes out there.

Information

Description

Starting at 2.6 lbs. per PAIR, the stout Men's Elite is around half the weight of other men's 25" all-terrain snowshoes!

Slightly wider and with a thicker frame than the Women's Elite, the Men's Elite is our most popular snowshoe for men up to 180lbs looking to shed the weight and go further, faster. The unmatched weight of the Elite provides for unsurpassed maneuverability and speed in all conditions and terrain.

Although designed for hiking, it is light enough to easily use in races yet rugged enough to propel 1,000 mile Iditarod champions!

The Elite is a step up from the Quicksilver 25" snowshoes due to a lighter 7075 series aluminum alloy frame, a lighter yet equally strong grade of COOLTHANE® decking, powder-coated color options and 38 more compact ridged deck clips for even more weight savings.

FAQs

What's the difference between the Quicksilver 25 and 30, and the Elite or Backcountry snowshoe models?

The Quicksilver's aluminum frame is slightly heavier and not quite as durable as the Elite or Backcountry snowshoes (6000 series vs. 7075-T6 alloy). The only color option for the Quicksilver line is silver and tan.

What's the difference between the Quicksilver 25 and Quicksilver 30?

Size is the only difference. The Quicksilver 25 is 25 inches long, with a recommended flotation limit of 180lbs. The Quicksilver 30 is 5 inches longer at 30 inches long and a recommended flotation limit of 225lbs. If you're close to the weight limit and like to snowshoe in fresh snow or powder (or venture off trail) it's typically wise to size up your snowshoe vs. size down.

I'm a woman, which Quicksilver should I get?

It's all about your weight with gear on. If you're under 180 lbs with all of your gear, go with the Quicksilver. Or, if you are always sticking to maintained trails with packed powder, go with the Quicksilver 25 as it's a better dedicated trail snowshoe.

Glide vs. Summit Traction System

Choose the featherweight Glide system for flat to rolling terrain or the Summit system for added traction and an integrated heel lift for steep ascents.
